Hi, I’m Matt. Upwind Creative is me: a web designer and developer who is also a published photographer and filmmaker.
Originally from the East Coast, I’ve spent more than fifteen years at Lake Tahoe backcountry skiing, kitesurfing and mountain biking, and sixteen years designing and building websites. I founded Upwind Creative in 2022 to bring the two together: websites, photography and video from one person, delivered as one coherent package.
My photography and films have been published by National Geographic, Men’s Journal, Forbes, Outside and Powder, with more than forty magazine covers, and I’m an FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot. For over ten years I’ve been the principal photographer, videographer and web partner for Ruby Mountain Heli.
Clients range from small businesses to heli-ski operations, engineering firms, nonprofits and software companies. What they share is a preference for working directly with the person doing the work, and for a site that looks and feels like one brand.
Why “Upwind”? Kiting upwind takes skill, timing and reading conditions others don’t see. It’s also where everyone else isn’t.
